James M. Bekken

James M. Bekken was a District Court Judge for the Southeast Judicial District of North Dakota. He was based out of New Rockford, North Dakota, which is located in Eddy County.[1] Bekken passed away on May 3, 2010.[2]

Mr. Bekken had won the primary election and was up for re-election.[3]

Education

Judge Bekken earned his Ph.B. in Social Studies and Mathematics from the University of North Dakota in 1970 and a J.D. with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1977.[4]

Career

Bekken engaged in private practice in New Rockford, North Dakota from 1977 to 1982. He was elected County Court Judge for Benson, Eddy, Foster, and Wells Counties in 1982. He was also elected Judge of the Southeast Judicial District in 1994, 1998 and 2004.[4]
