James M. Biernat, Jr.

James M. Biernat, Jr. is a judge of the 16th Circuit Court in Macomb County, Michigan. He was appointed to this position by Gov. Rick Snyder on April 15, 2011 (sworn in to office May 8th). His term expired on January 1, 2019. He is the son of former Judge James Biernat, Sr..[1][2]
Education
Biernat received his B.A. degree from Hillsdale College in 1991 and his J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Law School in 1997.[1][2]
Career
Biernat worked as a Macomb County commissioner for 6 years from 1993 through 1998. After receiving his law degree in 1997, he joined the firm of Beirnat, Chioni and Sarnacki, PC. He then became an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County (specializing in the Drug Unit) in 2006 and served in that position for five years before his appointment to the circuit court in 2011.[1][2]
2012 election
Biernat was elected to court after running unopposed in 2012.[3] [4]
