Campaign themes
2016
Morrison's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Securing the Border: It is clear that our Federal Government will not secure the international border with Mexico. We need a real solution to protecting our borders. Texas must continue to step up and take control. The first steps to control our border are: enforce existing laws, severely penalize employers who hire illegals, end all benefits to illegals, eliminate sanctuary cities, and allow all law enforcement officers to check legal status. The system is broken, and it’s going to take more than a fence to fix it. Education: No one should decide what’s best for your children, except you! It’s that simple. I support Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick’s interim changes to the Senate education committee; therefore, I support school choice. Property Taxes: I pledge to make every effort to get a handle on continuously rising property appraisals, and the resulting taxes. Pro Life: I believe in the unalienable right that is bestowed up on ALL Americans. The right to life is not an issue that needs to be debated. It’s not a matter of social injustice, it’s a matter of right and wrong. Ending a life takes an emotional toll on a person, especially on a mother who is ending a child’s life. The mothers who carry their choices with them suffer in silence for rest of their lives, and in some cases go on to end their own lives as well. I believe all life is sacred, and I will work to ensure that these hearts only stop beating in God’s time. 2nd Amendment: I am, and have been, a concealed handgun license holder for years. I am a lifetime NRA member, a member of Texas Rifle Association, a member of Texas Conceal Carry, and an instructor for Texas Parks and Wildlife hunters’ safety. The right to bear arms is one of the greatest gifts that our forefathers have passed down to us. They also believed that we, the people, have every right to defend ourselves from any identifiable threat or danger. I have and will continue to support Constitutional Carry for law-abiding citizens.[1] |
