James "Jim" Newsom III was a judge on the Thirtieth District Chancery Court in Tennessee. He was appointed by Governor Bill Haslam (R) on September 3, 2015, to replace the late Oscar C. Carr III.[1]

Newsom ran in the general election on August 4, 2016, to serve out the remainder of Carr's unexpired term. He was defeated in a three-way race.

Education

Newsom received a bachelor's degree from Rhodes College in 1976 and a J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School in 1979.[1]
