Overstreet was defeated in the 2011 election for Mississippi Senate District 46. He ran unopposed in the primary on August 2, 2011. Democrat Joe Bye also ran unopposed in the primary. Mickey Lagasse and Philip Moran defeated both Brian Cuevas and Fred Sullivan in the Republican primary. Moran then defeated Lagasse in the primary runoff election on August 23, 2011. Overstreet lost to Moran and Bye in the general election on November 8, 2011.[1]
