James P. Cloninger was a judge for the Superior Court of Ventura County in California. He was appointed in April 1995 by former Governor Pete Wilson to succeed Richard D. Aldrich.[1][2] He retired in June 2014.[3]

Education

Cloninger received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1974 and a J.D. from Loyola University in Los Angeles in 1979.[4]

Career

Prior to becoming a judge for the Superior Court of Ventura County, Cloninger was a judge for the Ventura County Municipal Court from 1994 to 1995. He previously worked as a prosecutor in Ventura County and Orange County.[2]
