James P. Murphy (New York supreme court)
James P. Murphy is a justice for the Onondaga County Supreme Court in the 5th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to a term that began in 2005 and ends in 2018. Also, since 2007, he has served as the Supervising Judge of the 5th Judicial District Justice Courts.[1][2]
Education
Murphy received his undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University and his J.D. degree (1984) from Syracuse University School of Law.[1]
Career
Murphy, prior to his judicial career, worked as: Chair of the Onondaga Legislature's Ways and Means Committee, an Assistant Onondaga County District Attorney, a Cato Village Attorney, a Skaneateles Town Attorney, a Tully Town Attorney and a private practice lawyer. He became a Supreme Court justice in 2005 and was appointed a Supervising Judge of the 5th Judicial District in 2007.[1]
