I spent my formative years growing up in Southern Mississippi. As the child of a black minister and a school teacher in Mississippi, I developed a social justice mindset and sense of community early in life. After college my love for technology, like many at that time, led me to pursue a career in the silicon valley. The cost of living, housing specifically pushed us out of the bay area. We had a long list of possible places we could move to. But the natural beauty and possibilities available in the Puget Sound led us to settle in Washington State.

My desire to run for office was created by the state of things in 2021. We had recently experienced the first Trump presidential administration, a pandemic, and the murder of George Floyd. I spent a lot of time at home with my wife and children. I questioned how our futures might look and felt that I should run for local office to actively engage with what I wanted to see in the future.

I am happy to run on the wide range of accomplishments of my first term and will use my next to extend and complete the things that have been started.
  • 🤝 Continue growing public engagement and inclusion in city decisions
  • 🏘️ Improve and expand our housing supply —so everyone can afford a first home and settle into a last home with dignity while preserving our tree canopy and natural environment
  • 🏊 Support the Northshore Parks and Recreation Service Area to build a regional community center and pool that can also serve as a cooling and warming center
I am personally passionate about bringing more public transportation to Woodinville. I believe consistent, frequent, and reliable public transit will enable us to reduce traffic and enable additional affordable housing. A continuous circuit in Woodinville is a key solution to our transportation needs for both visitors and residents in and around the city.
I think one of the most important principles is to realize that we are all living here. The goal for each of us should be to discuss and align on the set of problems we want to solve. If we can align on the problems, it's easier to make progress on the solutions.
I started a small lawn business, to pay for video game rentals. Then I learned that I could charge neighborhood kids to come over to play. It was a complex thing that didn't last long, but it was a really fun pair of businesses I worked with my brothers on.
The ability to listen to learn what's important to constituents. And the ability to share what's needed to remove barriers to get to desired outcomes.
