Campaign themes
2014
Roy's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Immigration
- Excerpt: "I am a strong supporter of immigration and I welcome those who want to come to this country to make a better life for themselves and their families. However, we must respect the fact that we are a nation of laws and those immigrating here, must also be willing to obey those laws."
Creating Jobs & Growing Our Economy
- Excerpt: "True job creation occurs when government gets out of the way by reducing taxes and regulations. The economy will grow when business is allowed to grow. When a business begins to produce more than their current work force is able to keep up with, more employees are needed."
Improving Education
- Excerpt: "In the legislature, I will work to help pass reforms that will direct more money to the classroom. We must facilitate the best and brightest teachers being attracted to our schools. We need to reward teachers in accordance with their merit and skills. We also need to provide parents with the flexibility needed to choose the best educational opportunities for their children."
The 2nd Amendment
- Excerpt: "Every human being has the right to protect themselves; and our Founding Fathers had the wisdom to put it in writing."
State Sovereignty
- Excerpt: "'One size fits all' policies do not work with individual states. Each state is different with its own history and culture. For this very reason, the Constitution grants each state the right to create its own set of laws that work best for them. It’s time that we stand up, and tell the federal government that only Arizona knows what’s best for Arizona."
