James Spadola
James Spadola (Republican Party) ran for election for Delaware State Auditor. He lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.
Spadola was an unsuccessful 2016 Republican candidate for District 1 of the Delaware State Senate.
Biography
Spadola earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Delaware in 2007 and an M.B.A. from Wilmington University in 2014. As of the 2018 election, Spadola was a fellow in the Leadership Delaware class. Spadola enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2001. His unit, the 744th Military Police Battalion, was mobilized in 2003 and deployed to Kuwait and later relocated to Iraq. During his year-long tour, Spadola served as a prison guard and as his battalion commander’s gunner and driver. He also earned a Combat Action Badge. After serving for eight years, Spadola was honorably discharged.[1][2]
Spadola's professional experience includes working in the finance industry as an underwriter and in management for Merchant Cash and Capital, as a police officer for the Newark Police Department, and as the director of the nonprofit Partnerships for Coded by Kids. He is also a musician and plays guitar in multiple acoustic duos. Spadola is the vice chairman of the Wilmington Housing Authority, the founder of the podcast “Elected Officials of America: Underdog Stories," a board member of 1504 North Broom Street Condo Association, the vice president of the Delaware Avenue Community Association, and part of Best Buddies – the longest buddy pair in Delaware.[1][2] Spadola was elected to an at-large seat on the Wilmington City Council in 2020.[3]
