James Stanton (Massachusetts)
James Stanton is an associate justice of the Boston Municipal Court in Massachusetts. He was nominated by Gov. Charlie Baker (R) on November 1, 2016, and approved by the Governor's Council on December 14, 2016.[1][2]
Stanton was a 2010 and 2012 Republican candidate for the Twelfth Norfolk District of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.[3]
Biography
Stanton earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. His professional experience includes work as an assistant district counsel for the United States Department of Justice, an assistant district attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, a leasing and zoning specialist for Nextel Communications, and the owner of his own firm, the Law Office of James M. Stanton. Stanton has also served as vice chair of the Walpole Board of Selectmen and a member of the Walpole Zoning Board of Appeals.[1]
Elections
2012
Stanton ran for Massachusetts House of Representatives, Twelfth Norfolk District in 2012. He ran unopposed in the September 6 Republican primary and was defeated by incumbent John Rogers (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5]
2010
Stanton lost his election bid to the Twelfth Norfolk seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition but was defeated by incumbent John Rogers (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010.
