James Steenbergen
James Steenbergen was a member of the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District in Texas, representing District 5. Steenbergen assumed office in 2015. Steenbergen left office in 2019.
Biography
Steenbergen has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in metallurgy from Texas A&M University. After 30 years, he retired from Union Carbide/Dow as a director of corporate purchasing.[1]

The general election on May 9, 2015, in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District featured three seats up for election.
District 7 incumbent Rhonda Zacharias was the only incumbent to file for re-election. She faced challengers Melisa Roberts and Mark Wiatrek. Roberts defeated Zacharias.
In the District 4 race, three candidates vied for the seat held by Julie Thompson. They were Tyson Harrell, Sofia Sheikh and Joy Williams. Harrell won the open seat.
District 5 featured four candidates: Kimberly Ashley, Lynn Franklin, Sharon Lovelady and James Steenbergen. Incumbent Dar Hakimzadeh chose not to seek re-election of his seat, which Steenbergen won, instead.
