James Volz
James Volz was the chairman of the Vermont Public Service Board. He was first appointed by then-Governor Jim Douglas to a six-year term beginning March 1, 2005 and re-appointed to a second six-year term by Gov. Peter Shumlin on March 1, 2011.[1]
Biography
Volz came to Vermont in 1981 as a clerk for the Vermont Supreme Court. After clerking, he served as a Deputy State's Attorney in Brattleboro before entering private practice for a few years.
Volz worked for the Vermont Department of Public Service for 20 years, 16 of which he spent as the Director of Public Advocacy. In that capacity, Volz directed the litigation of the entire department, drafted legislation, testified before the legislature, and advised both the Commissioner of Public Service and the governor.[1]
