James W. Van Amburg was a circuit court judge for the 6th Circuit Court in Missouri.[1] He served from 2013 to 2020. He was appointed by Governor Jay Nixon on September 4, 2013, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Abe Shafer.[2] He was retained to the court in 2014.[3] He left office when his term expired on December 31, 2020.[4]

Van Amburg was retained to the 6th Judicial Circuit Court with 67.3 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3]

2010

Van Amburg was retained as an associate judge on November 2, 2010, receiving 66.7% of the vote.[5]

Education

Amburg earned an undergraduate degree from William Jewell College, going on to receive his master's degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He later graduated with a J.D. from Washburn University in Kansas.[2]
