James was born and raised in Frankford, Philadelphia. He grew up in a Single parent home, along with 6 siblings. Raised in poverty, he graduated high school in the Philadelphia public school system and went to college at ccp and temple alumni. At an early age he was placed into the custody of the state. His grandmother fought to the very end to win him back into the family. Growing up in the inner city, there wasn’t much opportunity so he had to overcome a lot of adversity, but he was determined to win and be something better than what he was used to seeing. He lost friends to gun violence and drug use, even battled with chronic homelessness. I work with countless non profits giving back to the inner city youth organizations across the city of Philadelphia, and was elected to serve on the board for the Nicetown NAS committee and also Nicetown CDC serving philly's hunting park, Wyoming, Nicetown, Logan, Olney, Erie, Germantown, all whom are very bad neighborhoods. The reason I'm running for city council in this year's special and next year general election is crime is out of control, youth programs are missing, Affordable housing becoming less and less of a option, Philadelphia public school's are failing, Drug's in the form of opioid's are killing our youth, while destroying communities like Kensington, working as a board member on the nicetown nas committe prepared me along with growing up in all the problems I've talked prepared me for this very moment to become a leader.
Crime to me was always one of my areas I happen to be very passionate about, I grew up in a high crime neighborhood frankford to be exact and also living in Brooklyn,ny bedstuy. I truly believe there are many reasons why one commits a crime, but my favorite reason would be a low quality of life I believe if we increase people's well being I truly we can curve crime here in the city of Philadelphia.
Communication, Team Leader, Integrity, Honest, Hardworking, Understanding, Listening, Compromise
The legacy I would want to leave to the world is understanding pass our differences as a nation, compromise and learn to live amongst each other, there will be a matter of opinion, choose, Education, Race, Ethnicity, language, and also religion respect goes along with integrity.
The odyssey by homer - The tale of a young boy looking for he's father, to combat the forces that took over he's kingdom is fascinating to me.
Learning to be were I am in the current moment, most times i struggle with bringing work home into my family life and also time managing for other things in my life that are important to me.
A guy is stranded in the ocean and a boat goes pass, and the guy on the boat goes I'm here to save you, the man that is drowning goes no thanks GOD will save me, and two more boats goes pass and he say's the same thing. The man finally drowns and he gets to heaven an he goes "God why didn't you save me?' God responds " I sent three boats for you".
