James Witt
James Witt was a judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Eastern Section. He assumed office in 1997. He left office on August 17, 2024.
Witt ran for re-election for judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Eastern Section. He won in the retention election on August 4, 2022.
Witt was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals by Republican Governor Don Sundquist in January 1997 and was retained in 1998, 2006, and 2014.[1][2]
Witt passed away on August 17, 2024. [3]
Education
Witt received his associate degree from Hiwassee College in 1968, his undergraduate degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1970, and his J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1973.[2]
