My name is James Woods, Jr. I am an only child who was born in Winona, MS. I graduated from Velma Jackson High School in Madison County and I am an Alum of The University of Mississippi. Hoddy Toddy! I moved to Los Angeles, CA for a few years after working as a corrections officer at the Walnut Grove Youth Correctional facility. I returned with my beautiful wife, Abby, to help my mom to care for my aging father.I am a business owner and CEO of a video production company. I am also currently attending Belhaven University pursuing my Masters in Public Administration.

I am a member of the Rotary Club and sit on the board of Praire Opportunities, a non-profit organization servicing seniors and low-income families.

Every campaign has a slogan. I’ve chosen the tagline: It’s All On Us because we are all accountable for the NOW and the next generation. We are all responsible for the NOW and the next generation. The plans we make today must take into consideration the NOW and the next generation. It’s All On Us!

  • Elevate the attractiveness of District 27 to be more enticing for manufacturers and more job creation.
  • Advocate for more state and federal funding to enhance the Education system.
  • Create more avenues for better healthcare with increased funding from the state and federal government.
Economic policy is what I am most passionate about. My top priority is to create legislation that is supportive of growing wealth for District 27 residents.
I, like many Gen Z candidates, look up to Former President, Barack Obama. While I have no desire to become President, I remain encouraged by his ability to unify the country and lead during very challenging times. I hope to be able to inspire the now and next generation to make a difference and lead their communities.
I was attending Hawthorne Elementary in Vaiden, MS when we took a class trip to Winona, MS where I got to meet and shake the hand of Former First Lady, Barbara Bush.
My very first job was working as a cashier for Chik-Fila in Jackson, MS. It was a summer job that I held for two months when I was 17 years old.
