Campaign themes

2014

Clements' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

  • Economic Development goes hand in hand with a well-planned roadway system. One enticement our district can provide for potential industries and retailers is a well-developed roadway system that enables its citizens and goods to move easily throughout the district. Another enticement is an adequate water supply, not only for residential needs but also for industry and retailers as well. I will work with the local town and community leaders to help recruit much needed industry and retail development to District 62.
  • Education is another important component of economic development. A well-educated citizenry is a reliable and productive work force. Not only do we need to focus on K thru 12 and higher education, but trade schools as well to provide educational opportunities for those who wish to pursue careers that do not require a college degree. As our county population continues to grow, our county school system must be poised to grow with it as well, not only in size, but in the types of educational opportunities provided. As a state legislator, I will advocate for state level policies that maximize the authority and freedom of local school boards to shape and mold the local school system to fit the community needs.
