An effort to recall Jamie Cade from his position as vice president of the Buckley Community Schools board of education in Michigan was launched in July 2013. Cade resigned from the board on October 8, 2013 before recall organizers could submit completed petitions.[1]
Recall supporter arguments
Eric Burt and Susan McGuire were leading the effort to recall Cade. In their petition, they wrote of Cade:
“ | His voting history regarding extending contracts with the superintendent, principal and athletic director suggests an unknown agenda that is not in the best interest of the children, school and community. His attendance at school board meetings is inconsistent and low. He has also read the private and personal disciplinary reports at a public school board meeting without consent of the individual mentioned.[2] | ” |
Cade had voted against renewing a contract with the former athletic director and against hiring a new school secretary/administrative assistant recommended by Superintendent Rick Heitmeyer. Cade was also absent from three of around eight board meetings between April and June 2013.[3][4][5]

Susan McGuire submitted the recall petition in July 2013. In August 2013, county election officials approved the language. Recall supporters had until February 1, 2014 to collect signatures equaling 25% of all votes in the district during the previous gubernatorial election.[6]. Cade's resignation in October 2013 eliminated the need for a recall vote.[3][4]
