I am a strong advocate for free markets, free peoples, and education freedom. America is the greatest secular force for good in the world, and ensuring our kids have the best education possible is a priority for me.

I am a born and bred Texan. I went to L.D. Bell High School in Bedford, TX and attended Rice University where I majored in Economics.

In 2004, I won the title of Miss Texas and spent the year traversing the state advocating on education issues.

From there, I joined the Texas Public Policy Foundation where I handled education policy. I testified in front of the state legislature (House and Senate Education Committees) and State Board of Education as a strong advocate for charter schools and educational freedom.

I was then tapped to lead the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, a free-market think tank in Honolulu. After three years, I returned to Texas to continue pursuing policy reform and fundraising in both the education and pro-life spaces.

Today, I am a successful real estate agent in Dallas. I am married to a former Navy fighter pilot, Ben, and we have three elementary-aged children.

Last, but certainly not least, I am a deep woman of faith. I attend Park Cities Presbyterian Church where I sing in the choir and serve in the preschool ministry. I am also a group leader and longtime member of Bible Study Fellowship.
  • Empower Parents: Parents should not be stuck with a government assigned school unless they choose one. They should have the freedom to send their kids to a school aligned with their values and desired educational outcomes. This includes approving a wide-range of excellent charter options and encouraging the Texas State Legislature to pass broad education funding reform that funds students, not systems.
  • Protect Children: Children should not be exposed to sensitive subject matter without explicit parental approval. Instructional materials must be rigorously reviewed and purged of radical ideological agendas.
  • Preserve Education: Our Texas state curriculum standards must reflect the values of Texans - the same values that made our country and state strong. We must resist attempts at indoctrinating our children in woke and DEI ideology. Furthermore, we must ensure that our standards and instructional materials are rigorous and effective at preparing students for thriving careers and families.
I am passionate about education freedom, strong curriculum standards, and ensuring all Texas students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. I am also passionate about the dignity of human life, including the protection of pre-born children.
Education is the bedrock of a strong society - and the fact that Texas hands its regulation over to an elected body of leaders conveys a deep commitment to democratic ideals. Those setting standards are directly accountable to the voters - which drives strong incentives to get things right.
While I can never succeed, I strive to model my life after the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Integrity, honesty, and a willingness to engage with constituents.
I am a tireless worker. I enjoy learning from people from diverse backgrounds. I have a clear set of principles by which I stand.
First, set strong curriculum standards that reflect the values of Texans.

Second, review and adopt instructional materials that drive high standards while ensuring a strong foundation in the fundamentals of math and phonics.
Third, set graduation standards that reflect the requirements of a 21st century workforce.

Fourth, rigorously review charter school applications from the state commissioner, and do so with an eye towards creating as many options as possible for Texas parents to direct their children's educations.
That my children - and their grandchildren - would be strong followers of Christ based on the example they saw of the Holy Spirit working in my life.
I remember watching on television as President Reagan gave his farewell address at the 1988 Convention. I don't remember specifics - I was only 7 at the time! - but I remember the esteem in which my parents held him.
In junior high, I started a small business as a piano accompanist for my band classmates' Solo & Ensemble performances. At $25 a pop, they added up to a nice seasonal income (for a 9th grader!), and provided a healthy incentive to keep up my piano skills!
Atlas Shrugged - so many precautionary parallels to the world in which we live.
Recognizing that I can't do everything on my own. Giving up control to God and accepting help from others.
First, ensuring curriculum standards reflect the values of all Texans rather than fringe, radical ideologies.
Second, ensuring Texas parents have as many options as possible when choosing schools for their kids - which translates into approving high-quality charter schools as often as feasible.
The SBOE has oversight authority of the ~$50B Texas Permanent School Fund. It's historical performance lags peer funds - which means fewer dollars flow to Texas Education coffers than is optimal. Strong oversight of this fund can drive outsized returns while also putting pressure on anti-shareholder Hedge Funds that prioritize social issues over free markets and economic returns.
We are setting the standards for the next generation of Texans - it is incumbent upon those who are in the seat to understand how best to educate children. My years of tireless advocacy and policy work at the Texas state level make me distinctly qualified to understand core drivers of educational outcomes.
First, an ability to know what skills must be learned when.

Second, an ability to work collaboratively with folks of different political persuasions while still strongly standing for the core values that constituents demand.

Finally, an understanding of what quality charter schools look like to ensure parents have the greatest choice possible when making educational decisions for their children.
Why did the chicken cross the playground?

To get to the other slide!
True Texas Project. Colleen Dippel (CEO of Families Empowered). State Senator Mayes Middleton. State Representative Ellen Troxclair.
Government is accountable to the people. Tax dollars are not government dollars - they are a contribution by individual citizens to bolster society. As such, citizens should have extensive insight into how their hard earned tax dollars are spent to drive oversight and accountability.
