Yelverton ran for election to the Third Circuit Court of Appeal.
Primary: He was defeated in the primary on November 4, 2014, receiving 41.1 percent of the vote. He competed against D. Kent Savoie.

Yelverton received a B.S. from McNeese State University in 1982, and a J.D. from Southern University School of Law.[3]
Career
Yelverton has been an assistant district attorney in Calcasieu Parish since 2004.[3]
