People ask me all the time why in the world I would want to go to what’s been called one of the most dysfunctional state houses in the country. Well, simply put, it’s because I’m sick of it.
I’m sick of the corruption, tired of watching our elected representatives lie while lining their pockets. This is the People’s House and it should work for the people. All the people.
I’ve seen this as a Perrysburg Councilwoman. The state over mandates and under funds our local communities and our schools. In my 30+ years building roads and bridges at the Ohio Department of Transportation, I watched the state over promise and under deliver.
That’s not how your State House is supposed to work. It’s actually supposed to take your desires, your feedback and your values to Columbus to make our state government work for you.
So like I said, I’m sick of it and I’m going to change it.
- I spent my career as an infrastructure specialist working for the Ohio Department of Transportation. We have 100 bridges that our kids travel over everyday that are structurally unsafe. I will fix that if I have to get in the truck myself.
- We must fairly fund our public schools and keep control of our kids eduction at the local level.
- We must protect our air and water. To do this we must focus our resources and innovation on renewable forms of energy.
