Campaign themes

Ausborn's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

  • Excerpt: "I believe strongly in the future of South Dakota and would characterize myself as a fiscal conservative. I am for the rights of the individual, small government and limited regulations. As stated in the South Dakota Republican Party Platform, I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, liberty and integrity must be honored. I believe that the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations. The best government is that which governs least."
