Jane Moerlie ran for election to the Marion County Public Schools school board to represent District 4 in Florida. Moerlie lost in the primary on August 28, 2018.

Moerlie was a candidate for the District 3 seat on the Marion County School Board in Florida. She faced Bobby James, Jim Touchton and Ed Wilson in the general election on August 26, 2014. Since neither she nor James received 50 percent of the vote, she challenged him in a runoff election on November 4, 2014. Moerlie lost the runoff election.

The August 26, 2014, general election in Marion County featured three seats up for election. The District 3 race included incumbent Bobby James and challengers Jane Moerlie, Jim Touchton and Ed Wilson. District 4 Angelia Lorraine Boynton sought re-election against Michael Chase Basinger, Jamie L. Bevan and Diane Lynn Schrier. Ronald Bruce Crawford was running for re-election in District 5 against Kelly D. King.

The general election determined if candidates for each seat could garner a majority of the vote total. If no candidate received 50 percent plus one of the general election votes in a particular district, the top two vote recipients advanced to the runoff election on November 4, 2014.
