Collapse all
|- I come to the campaign with 40 years of experience being a healthcare professional, business owner, and only Republican candidate who, has won an election for and, held a statewide office.
- Our values are under assault by radical Washington liberals. I will stand up for our second amendment rights, support pro-life issues, support President Trump and help create solutions to the out of control healthcare cost. There is no getting around it, today's Socialist Democrat Party is trying to fundamentally change our great nation. I've taken on the liberal establishment, and I've got the scars to prove it. I know what it takes to stand up for Oklahoma values.
- We need principled conservative fighters ready to make the case for freedom and defeat the radical left in Congress. We can't settle for just any Republican. I believe that I'm the most qualified candidate to, on day one, be able to sit down and face off against Nancy Pelosi, AOC, and socialist liberals.
Second Amendment - The right to bear arms is a fundamental right guaranteed by our constitution. Janet is a proud member of the NRA and will defend our Second Amendment rights from liberals who seek to take our guns.
Right to Life - Janet believes that we must protect all innocent life, including unborn babies. She believes life begins at conception and understands that any country that permits late-term abortions and infanticide is not just. She will fight for every child's right to reach their God-given potential.
Taxes - Janet supports the tax cuts passed by Republicans in Congress and signed into law. She will vote to make the tax cuts permanent. Washington has enough money. They just spend too much.

Political career
Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction (2011-2015)
Barresi served as Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2011 to 2015. She supported the original implementation of the Common Core education initiative in Oklahoma. She also supported charter schools by working to increase funding for scholarship programs.[4] At the end of her tenure, however, Barresi's position on Common Core shifted, as explained on her campaign website:
“ | I strongly support higher academic standards. At one time, as it was emerging from Republican and conservative ideas from individual states, I did support Common Core. However, as it has become entangled with federal government, it has become too difficult and inflexible. There’s no disputing that Common Core and the debate surrounding it have become a distraction to raising standards. Whether the standards in question are Common Core or another set, what is important is creating and implementing standards that truly prepare our children so they attain their dreams. I have never wavered in my support of greater rigor. The clock is ticking on each and every child in Oklahoma classrooms, and we must press forward to make Oklahoma’s public schools the best they can be.[5] | ” |
