Janet C. Thorpe

Janet C. Thorpe was a judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed to this position by former Governor Jeb Bush and took office on January 1, 2000. She was re-elected in the 2014 primary for a term that expired on January 4, 2021.[1][2][3][4][5]

Primary: She was elected in the primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 69.7 percent of the vote. She competed against Bradford D. Fisher.

Education
Thorpe received her B.A. degree in political science & American history from Union College in 1975 and her J.D. degree from the Emory University School of Law in 1978.[6]
Career
Thorpe began her career in 1978 as a regional attorney in the federal Comptroller of the Currency office in Atlanta, GA. She worked there until 1980. She then became in-house counsel for the Trust Company of Georgia. Due to a merger, the trust became Sun Trust Bank in 1986, but Thorpe continued her work there until she joined the circuit court on January 1, 2000.[1]
Since joining the circuit court, she has served in the Orange County Juvenile Dependency, Civil, Domestic and Criminal divisions. She was also an administrative appellate judge from 2008 to 2011.[6]
