2014
Ellis' website highlighted the following campaign themes:
“ | We can have a healthy environment and a healthy economy. We must encourage economic development while preserving the clean and healthful environment we all hold dear. I’ve spent the last thirty years advocating for clean water, wildlife, and open space and look forward to continuing to champion these causes in the legislature. Everyone in our community should have basic life provisions, including food, shelter, and access to healthcare. I strongly support the expanding Medicaid to provide coverage for over 60,000 Montanans.
High-quality public education is the linchpin of our democracy and key to Montana’s economic future. My son is the product of Helena public schools and his teachers prepared him well to succeed in college. We must continue to support our public schools and teachers as they work to improve graduation rates and to assure that all Montana students can reach their full potential. |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
