Janet Long
Janet Long (Democratic Party) was a member of the Pinellas County Commission in Florida, representing District 1. Long assumed office in 2012. Long left office on November 19, 2024.
Long (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Pinellas County Commission to represent District 1 in Florida. Long won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Long's professional experience includes working as the director of advancement/assistant to the president at Clearwater Central Catholic High School, as a deputy in the Florida Department of Insurance, and as a legislative aide.
She is a member of the Advanced Institute of Municipal Elected Officials, Florida League of Cities, Institute of Municipal Elected Officials, Leadership Florida, National League of Cities and Suncoast League of Municipalities. She was a Seminole City Councilor from 2002 to 2004.[1]

The Democratic primary election was canceled. Incumbent Janet Long advanced from the Democratic primary for Pinellas County Commission District 1 At-large.
Republican primary election
The Republican primary election was canceled. Larry Ahern advanced from the Republican primary for Pinellas County Commission District 1 At-large.
2010
Long ran for re-election to the 51st District seat in 2010. She did not face any opposition in the August 24 primary. Larry Ahern (R) defeated Long in the general election on November 2, 2010. Victoria Torres (Tea Party) came in third.[2]

2008
On November 4, 2008, Long won re-election to the Florida House of Representatives from Florida's 51st District, defeating Christopher Peters (R). Long received 37,119 votes in the election while Peters received 26,661 votes.[3] Long raised $221,329 for her campaign; Peters raised $2,260.[4]
