Janet N. Poston
Janet N. Poston was a judge of the Fourth Judicial District in Hennepin County, Minnesota. She was elected to this position in 1996 and re-elected in 2002 and 2008. She retired on January 4, 2015. Poston was appointed to serve as a statewide senior judge from July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2017.[1]
Education
Poston received her B.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1971. She then worked as an elementary school teacher until 1978 and as a teacher in Bolivia until 1980. In 1983, she received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota.[1]
Career
Poston began her legal career that year as a law clerk for Judge Deborah Hedlund. She worked in this capacity until her judicial appointment in 1996. Also, from 1990 to 1996, she worked part-time as a District Court Referee.[1]
