Janet R. Holmgren is a resident judge of the Seventeenth Circuit Court in Illinois. She was first elected to the court in 1998.[1] Holmgren was retained in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Holmgren served as the district's chief judge from May 2007 to December 2011. She was succeeded by Joseph G. McGraw.[2]

Education

Holmgren earned a B.A. from the University of Denver, going on to receive her J.D. from Northern Illinois University. She was admitted to the bar in 1985.[3]

Judges of the Illinois Circuit Court stand for retention after their first full term. To be retained, a judge must receive at least 60 percent of the vote.[5][6] Janet R. Holmgren was retained in the Illinois Seventeenth Circuit Court, Janet Holmgren Retention Election with 84.36 percent of the vote.
