Basic facts
Organization:Self-employed
Role:Bounty Hunter

Jango Fett is a bounty hunter who served as the genetic template for the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic. He is also the father of bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Career

Jango Fett was from Concord Dawn. He was adopted by warriors from Mandalore after the death of his parents, and continued to wear Mandalorian armor throughout his work as a bounty hunter.[1] He was hired by Trade Federation viceroy Nute Gunray to assassinate Padme Amidala on Coruscant. Fett subcontracted the job to a shape-shifting bounty hunter named Zam Wessell, who Fett later killed during Wessell's detention and questioning by Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Jango Fett's proficiency as a bounty hunter drew the attention of a man Fett later identified to Obi-Wan Kenobi as Tyranus. Tyranus contracted Fett to serve as the genetic template for an army of clones to be manufactured on the planet Kamino. The army itself was ordered by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas for the Republic, who feared war was coming—an idea that got him expelled from the Jedi Council. Tyranus later hired the Pyke Syndicate to kill Sifo-Dyas on the moon of the planet Oba Diah.[2] Fett's only condition of hire for the genetic template job, other than fees, was to have an unaltered clone that he would raise as a son. He named his cloned son Boba.

During his investigation into Wessell's murder, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi met with Jango Fett on Kamino. Fett revealed that he was hired by Tyranus. Fett later took part in the first battle of the Clone Wars, the Battle of Geonosis, where he was killed by Jedi Master Mace Windu.
