I'm an Iowan who benefited from great public schools and served my country for 26 years as a U.S. diplomat. I am running to continue my work as a public servant and give back to this community. I’m a lawyer by training and a grassroots activist. I've served on non-profit boards, been a poll worker and am currently serving as an at-large city councilor. I'm the mother of two daughters and am raising my young granddaughter. I'm passionate about democracy and working for the common good.
  • We must maintain strong democratic institutions, including making it easier to vote, not harder.
  • Abortion is a fundamental right - women and all persons should have agency over their own bodies; it is healthcare and no one else should be "in" the doctors' office with her.
  • Quality public schools are the backbone of our society and deserve to be fully funded so that all children can thrive.
I am passionate about participatory democracy and have been living that passion since I returned home to Iowa. Public education is also key, including early childhood education and a robust childcare system where childcare workers are paid what they are worth. The education continuum includes post-secondary education - the trades, community college and university. All are essential to solving our workforce crisis and creating a state where young people want to stay.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Iowa

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
