Janis M. Burgess

Janis M. Burgess is a judge of the 98th Judicial District Court and the Ontonagon County Probate Court in Michigan. She was elected in 2010 and her term expired on January 1, 2019.[1]
Education
Burgess received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1976 and her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 1979.[2]
Career
After receiving her law degree, Burgess practiced in Detroit for ten years. In 1989, she became attorney for the City of Menominee and continued to practice law.[2]

Burgess was re-elected after running unopposed in 2012. [3][4]
2010 election
Burgess was elected to the Probate Court in 2010. She defeated James R. Jessup with 73.78% of the vote in the general election on November 2, 2010.[1]
