My name is Jared Nieuwenhuis, and I am running for re-election to the Bellevue City Council, Position 4. Bellevue has been my home for nearly two decades, and serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life. On the Council, I’ve focused on keeping Bellevue safe, managing growth responsibly, and ensuring families and businesses have the opportunity to thrive. I believe in results over rhetoric, and I’ve worked to deliver common-sense solutions that protect our quality of life and strengthen our city for the next generation.
  • Public safety has been my top priority, and I’ve worked to fully fund our police, create Bellevue’s transit police unit, and pass commonsense ordinances that keep neighborhoods safe.
  • I am also committed to responsible growth, making sure Bellevue expands in a way that preserves the character of our neighborhoods while providing more housing near transit and within designated growth corridors.
  • Finally, I bring results-driven leadership focused on solutions, not politics, delivering programs like Keep Bellevue Beautiful and supporting award-winning environmental stewardship policies that keep our city strong for the future.
I am passionate about public safety, because safe communities are the foundation for everything else. I care deeply about responsible growth and housing affordability, making sure Bellevue remains welcoming and livable as it expands. I am also committed to protecting our environment through stewardship policies that preserve our “city in a park” character. Above all, I believe in strengthening civic trust through accountability and practical, results-oriented leadership.
To ensure public safety, manage growth responsibly, and make sure Bellevue remains a place where families and businesses can thrive.
I want to leave a legacy of keeping Bellevue safe, vibrant, and welcoming. I hope residents will remember me as someone who protected the quality of life in our city while preparing it to thrive for the next generation.
Bellevue is the state’s second-largest economic engine, and our Council plays a vital role in shaping growth and policy that affect the region and Washington as a whole.
