The city of Gilbert, Arizona, held elections for mayor and city council on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 30, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 1, 2016. Two of the six city council seats were up for election.[2] Scott Anderson and incumbent Jared Taylor defeated Jim Torgenson and Joel Anderson in the Gilbert City Council at-large seats general election.[3]
