Jarrod Johnson
Jarrod Johnson (Republican Party) was the South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands. He assumed office on February 1, 2022. He left office on January 2, 2023.
Johnson previously served as the commissioner of school and public lands. He resigned on August 15, 2013.[1] Governor Dennis Daugaard appointed Vernon L. Larson to fill the rest of Johnson's term.
Biography
At the time of his 2022 appointment, Johnson was an owner/operator of his family ranch, Split Rock Cattle Company.[2][3]

Johnson was appointed as South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands by Gov. Kristi Noem (R) on January 26, 2022.[4]
South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands (2007-2013)
Johnson was first elected South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands in 2006. He was re-elected in 2010. Though his term was not set to end until January 2015, Johnson announced in April 2013 that he would resign from office effective August 15, 2013.[1] Johnson would have been term limited from running for office again in the 2014 election.
On May 20, 2013, Governor Dennis Daugaard appointed Vernon L. Larson to fill the rest of Johnson's term. Larson previously served as State Auditor and State Treasurer.[5]

Johnson was barred from running for re-election by constitutional term limits.
2010
Johnson was re-elected South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands in 2010.[1]
On November 2, 2010, Jarrod Johnson won re-election to the office of South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands. He defeated Bob Pille in the general election.

On November 7, 2006, Jarrod Johnson won election to the office of South Dakota Commissioner of School and Public Lands. He defeated Bryce Healy (D) and Jade Ager (L) in the general election.
