Jason A. Perdue was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 150 of the New York State Assembly.

Campaign themes

2016

Perdue's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Diversity

We live in a county with many cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds which together create a very exciting diverse community! There are not segments of individuals in our community but one community as a whole. With that said, there are invisible barriers and invisible walls that do seperate individuals and As Assemblyman, I will ensure NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND by partnering with these communities to organize festivals and events which highlight, educate and welcome all residents to participate in the melting pot that makes this county so unique! I will work with community leaders to break down cuture barriers that exist by introducing comprehensive literacy and educational programs for the hispanic community. I will meet regularly with the Hispanic community to continue to reasses the needs to work together to improve quality of life and opportunity for all individuals.

Housing

Housing is a crisis in New York, all over the state and especially in Chautauqua County! I support closing the loopholes (vacancy decontrol, eviction bonus and preferential rent) that are driving up rents that prevent tenants from remaining in their homes and communities. I support “Circuit Breaker” legislation that limits property taxes to a percentage of income. This targets property tax relief to working families and low and middle-income property owners.

Womens Rights and Healthcare

I support the reproductive services bill, A6221-Glick/S4432- Stewart-Cousins which will Codify the 1973 Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision into NY state law, ensure that a woman in New York can get an abortion within 24 weeks of pregnancy or when necessary to protect her life or health; ensure that physicians providing abortions cannot be criminally prosecuted in New York for providing such care; and retain those provisions in state law that allow the state to prosecute those who harm pregnant women. I support the New York Health Act, a comprehensive and universal single-payer system of access to health insurance for all New York State residents.

I Will Push for the Solution to the Drug Epidemic

We have a clear crisis in this county. A priority of focus must be the drug epidemic, where I have partnered with several organizations to help relay a solution! Addiction has taken far too many lives, broken families apart and diminished communities. This is a challenge that is now expanding throughout the entire county as we see troubling news daily on this topic, expanding all the way to my hometown of Brocton, NY. There is no better way to honor the lives of those we have lost, than by giving hope and an answer in the form of a solution, for those struggling now!"

I Will Support Upgrading and Investing in Our County Roads and Bridges

We are blessed in our county that our Governor has announced the addition of 800 new jobs in Dunkirk, NY through the Athenex project, and has supported the addition of 218 jobs with the groundbreaking of the National Comedy Center in Jamestown With county residents commuting North to South for work, travelling to college at JCC's North or south campus, Jamestown Business College or SUNY Fredonia, just going to the grocery store or going for the day to one of Chautauqua County's many tourist destinations we have to ensure roads are adequate. This includes New York State Route 60. For years, those travelling on the road can attest to the fact that it is dangerous in places of limited lanes and slow in many areas. As your representative, I will work to expand lanes in the areas that desperately need it with the ultimate goal of having a fast and safe way for Chautauqua County residents to travel between our North County and our South County![1]
