I am the only candidate that has actively practiced law for over 18 years. Along with that experience and being a veteran, small business owner, and community involvement, I am in the unique position to bring a perspective to the Supreme Court that no one else can. My experience in protecting individuals and families allows me to know firsthand what good laws can do for people and what bad laws do to people. Practicing the law allows me to be immersed in the changes to the law and the affect it has on individuals.
  • I believe that our Court system needs to increase its transparency and become more open to the public by utilizing technology, but also ensuring that all citizens have access to that technology and information.
  • All cases are taking too long to progress through the system. We need to ensure that courts have the resources they need to expedite cases through the system so individuals do not linger in the system waiting for justice.
  • Judges need to be accountable for their decisions and actions in their courts. The lack of transparency has resulted in some judges failing to follow the rules and laws and taking unilateral actions in cases. All people are required to follow the law and this includes Judges as well.
As our Court's become more digital there is a great concern of cutting off access to Courts. Only 70% of African American homes have access to internet or a computer. The inability to access courts digitally creates a digital divide that leads to distrust in the system. The judicial system is meant to be an open and accessible system that promotes fairness, protects liberties and ensures freedoms. However, if individuals cannot access this information or it becomes increasingly difficult to obtain this information, then distrust in the system is created and the courts lose
