Campaign themes

2016

Briscoe's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

The Abortion Debate

  • Excerpt: "I am PRO-LIFE. This is the greatest singular issue we face here in Michigan. Will we stand for life and defend the most vulnerable among us? Or will we discard our children as medical refuse, carving them up alive and selling them for parts. I stand for life. But more than a stance, I WILL expend every effort to change the laws in Michigan. Too many politicians claim a pro-life stance but never bother to actually pursue it in order to save these precious lives. I will be an ACTIVE pro-life representative, versus the passive politicians we often have now."

The 2nd Amendment

  • Excerpt: "Our right to be armed as individuals is under constant assault. Preserving this right requires constant vigilance. There is far more to the 2nd Amendment than just gun rights. I will stand as a roadblock to any legislation that would limit Michiganders capacity to protect themselves, and work to roll-back laws that currently do so."

Common Sense Representation

  • Excerpt: "Voters shouldn't have to guess on how their representative will vote on upcoming legislation. This should be clear through the principles and convictions of the representative. Likewise, constituents should have confidence that their representative will listen to the will of his or her district when it is made so abundantly clear. I am running to be a representative, not an authoritarian."

Parent's Rights

  • Excerpt: "Children are not the property of the state. It is the responsibility of the individual Parents to determine their upbringing, provide for them, and keep them safe. This applies to their education, religious beliefs, and medical decisions. Parents have rights, and in a world where gender confused men are allowed to share our daughters restrooms it is high time we exercised them. I will work to see these rights re-enforced in Michigan law so they are not open to a liberal judges interpretation and bureaucratic override."[2]
