Elections for the Maryland House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbent Kevin Kelly was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Jason C. Buckel was unopposed in the Republican primary. Buckel defeated Kelly in the general election.[2][3][4]

DUI arrest (2024)

On June 13, 2024, Del. Buckel was arrested for driving under the influence.[5]

Del. Buckel was also accused of driving with a suspended license, failure to display a registration card, and negligent driving that endangered property, life, and person.[6]

In November 2024, Del. Buckel entered an Alford Plea and was sentenced to a 270-day suspension of his driver's license and two years of supervised probation in Allegany County District Court, with the supervised probation modified to unsupervised after Del. Buckel completed an alcohol assessment.[7]

“Maryland has very strict laws with respect to driving, many of which I have voted for, and having even one or two alcoholic drinks before operating a vehicle is a poor idea,” Buckel said following his sentencing. “My judgment and my responsibilities to my family, my constituents and my community will reflect that reality going forward without question.”[8]
