- I believe the fundamental role of an elected official is to serve and be a steward for the area I represent.
I am accountable first and foremost to my constituents, and must work diligently to incorporate them whenever possible in legislative decisions that impact them.
Lincoln's Gettysburg address, as he spoke of our new birth of freedom, means to not just be "For the People", but also "By the People."
I'm running because right now, we are not legislating "By the People." My focus will be to employ strategies
through forums and policy councils, where school administrators, local leadership, faith leaders, and District 2 residents help set legislative priorities. For too long elected official use headliners like transparency and accountability, with no defined strategy as to what that actual means. Transparency for me means showing behind the curtain. It's giving constituents access to information. It's soliciting opinions and feedback, not just those favorable to my positions. For me, giving residents insight into how their tax dollars are spent through a tax payer dashboard would bring a level transparency sorely needed. Accountability to me, means answering to voters. It means creating policies and strategies such as Term Limits with veto authority to local leaders. It means taking meetings, having open office hours so that the people living in District 2 know as an elected official, I work for them.
- We must be 'American and Texas First' minded. I plan on targeting any and every area that is making it harder for everyday American's to provide.
Our communities are being overdeveloped. Our insurance premiums are skyrocketing, our property taxes continue to increase despite pleas from the public. And our elected official continue to ignore our cries.
We need representatives who believe, as Theodore Roosevelt did. That the fundamental role of government is to safeguard it's people, protect their constitutional rights, and to truly represent them above all else.
Officials must prioritize the general welfare of the public, not lobbyists, not special interest groups, not big business, or trusts.
- Empower Local Leaders, which as a result, empowers voters. Making sure they have more of a say so in how their communities are planned and developed
- Ensure Legislative Transparency and Accountability, by establishing Term Limits, and creating a Tax Payer Dashboard
- Proactively address crime, focusing on our youth, by working with school administrators and parents. Creating a Summer Jobs program that motivates our youth.
- Working with local leaders, residents, and elected officials to eliminate property taxes
