I strongly believe in limited government, and wish to restore the freedoms we've lost in this country. I believe our government has grown far beyond what is necessary to effectively govern. When I'm not riled up about politics, I own a small business producing video content, and work professionally in the IT industry. I also run a blog and YouTube channel about getting parents and kids connected together outdoors, which I believe produces tremendous family bonds, and instills self confidence in ways spectator sports cannot.
  • I want to restrict IC 10-14-3-11 which gives the governor far too much control over emergency situations. One person should not have that much power.
  • Divorce reform - developmental experts have concluded both parents are vital to a child's upbringing. In Indiana, it is very difficult for a father to obtain 50/50 custody if the the divorce is contested in any way. That needs to change, when you have caring fathers that want to be involved.
  • Reduce government bureaucracies. Lawmakers should make laws, fines, and punishments, not unelected bureaucrats who are unaccountable to the citizens and difficult to replace.
Government is not the answer, government is the problem. There are too many laws that restrict free choice, create victimless crimes, and damage the free market. I don't want to simply stop the growth of government, I want to scale it back to what our Founders intended - a limited government that is answerable to the People.
I believe the core responsibilities are always to protect individual freedom. We are not a socialist or communist nation, we are a democratic republic, and must do everything we can to protect every person's own freedoms and their own pursuit of happiness.
I would like people to realize there are far more things that we can unite on, than divide on. As a Libertarian, the hate towards my Party is minimal to start out with, so there is a chance that I can help foster better relationships with members from other Parties.
I was 9 when the Berlin Wall fell, and I remember the TV coverage, and listening to the discussion by adults on how our world was going to change. We're still feeling that change today, as the USSR morphed into modern-day Russia. Though the arms race fell off of the front page, an ideological war has been going on ever since.
I've had the privilege of exploring some Classic Rock with my daughter lately, and Journey's Can't Stop Belevin' has been a frequent song stuck in both of our heads.
I believe it is vitally important that politicians have zero to near zero political experience. Our Founders set up this government for individuals to be called to serve, perform their duties for a period of time, and *return* to their everyday lives. They never intended to make lifelong politicians. Our representatives were meant to represent the people, because they *were* the people.
I believe the greatest challenge will be removing the near limitless power the governor currently has during emergency declarations. It is reprehensible that one person can unilaterally decide who is essential, and who is not. Who can earn an income, and who can not. And which businesses will be successful, and which will not.
It is. If we only heard the sound bites that the media uses to portray the legislators, we would never accomplish any change. It is imperative to understand the motivations behind legislation, to help draft bills that will be the most beneficial to Hoosiers.
