I am a high school social studies teacher in Amarillo, TX, and a lifelong conservative. I believe in low taxes, few regulations, border security, maintaining a strong military, and removing infringements on our 2nd Amendment rights. I believe Constitutional Carry or at least 50 state CHL reciprocity is necessary, and that more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens will reduce crime.
  • Accessibility - Many elected officials don't have town hall meetings when people can actually attend. I promise to be available in the evenings, and on weekends, across our district to make sure y'all get a chance to speak with me.
  • Accountability - I am accountable to the people who put me in office and pay my salary. That means the average voter, not just special interest groups, lobbies, and unions. I want YOU to be heard.
  • Conservative Values - Our government is full of corruption and inefficiency. Many officials choose to chase power and wealth rather than serve their constituents.
Border security - It's time to stop the illegal aliens from crossing the border. Many of them are good people - but they are not innocent. It's a crime to illegally enter the United States, just as it is a crime to illegally enter Mexico.

Many of these people bring sickness, drugs, and violence across the border, endangering Americans in their homes on their own land, or even the children in our schools.

Many more of these people are victimized by the coyotes leading them here - we must end the human trafficking that takes place along our border, to protect our communities.

A physical barrier is one part of a multifaceted solution - that border needs to be patrolled by the National Guard, state militia volunteers, or even private security companies - all must be authorized to use force to defend themselves and prevent incursions.

The right of Americans to defend themselves is absolute. It's time to roll back the unconstitutional infringements on the Second Amendment. Law-abiding citizens are not the problem. Punishing them and restricting their rights is not the solution. Red flag laws are a violation of a citizen's due process rights, and must be abolished.

Abortion is murder - late-term abortion is an abomination and must be stopped. There are justifications some people can make for abortion...but if the baby is about to be born, then he/she can be adopted rather than killed. The adoption process should be streamlined.

I am a candid and honest person who values integrity. When it comes to my political philosophy. I am running as a Conservative Republican - and will never claim to be anything else. I will uphold those values and beliefs - and I will be accessible and receptive to my constituents.

I will be their delegate. They choose me to represent their wants and needs in Washington, to make sure their voice is heard.

A lot of politicians assume voters are stupid and don't know what's best for them. Those politicians are wrong. Many of them are associated with the other party.
To serve and represent the will of the people that elected them.
More money in the pockets of our citizens, safer communities, and expanded freedoms.
9/11. I was 16...a junior in high school. I remember being very conflicted with fear and anger. As I got a little older, and went to college, I chose to major in Political Science to study the Middle East and US Foreign Policy. I wanted to understand what was happening and why. The middle east - and everyone's adventures there - is a very interesting story.

No. Actually, I think having people come in from outside Washington is the best thing for voters.
The results of China attempting to ascend onto the world stage along with Russia fighting to keep its place...and the economic and civil instability we're going to see as the EU slowly falls apart (this is my prediction) is going to tempt many American leaders to get "involved" to defend our interests.

Africa is going to be the next hotbed of human rights violations and military occupation, which could lead to terrorism.

At home, it's going to be our economy, our failing public education system, and the under-funding of programs many Americans rely on. Those welfare programs are too entrenched to simply eliminate.

We have a lot of polarization in society, and it could potentially lead to domestic unrest.
Yes, because they have a lot of power over our finances, they need to be kept on a short leash by voters.
Term limits are a good idea. Good luck getting people in Congress to vote themselves out of a job.

Put a term limits bill in front of me, and I will sign it.

Ideally, I think two terms for Senators and four terms for Representatives are enough. They can always seek a different office.

There ought to be a ban on them returning as lobbyists for at least six years.
Ron Paul.

I truly believe he had the best interests of constituents and the nation at heart, and wanted to limit the power and scope of the federal government.

That describes me very well.

Campaign website

Foglesong's campaign website stated the following:

Problems and Solutions:

We have a crisis brewing on our southern border. Illegal immigration (and its supporters) enable violence, disease, human trafficking, organized crime, welfare fraud, identity theft, and rampant voter fraud. This is insane, and a danger to us all.

There has been massive government overreach regarding gun control. It’s blatantly unconstitutional, and in some cases, tyranny seems imminent.

Americans pay taxes all their lives, and it’s excessive. It’s time to reduce government spending and ask for less from our citizens. They work hard for their money, and the government is not entitled to it.

The government does not need to be involved in healthcare or education. The Department of Education serves no purpose. Obamacare was and is a terrible idea, and is further tainted by the insurance lobbies.

So…now I’ve got to tell you what I want to do about all of that.

Secure Borders, E-Verify, Voter ID, and Drug Tests:

I will sponsor legislation making E-Verify mandatory in all 50 states. I support the wall. I will sponsor legislation enacting a national Voter ID, as well as legislation mandating drug testing for all Federal welfare recipients.

On the 2nd Amendment:

I will sponsor legislation enabling 50 State CHL Reciprocity. I prefer Constitutional Carry, and will attempt both. I will work with Republicans (and smart Democrats) at all levels to repeal and eliminate “Red Flag Laws”.

On Taxes:

I will sponsor legislation to eliminate the Estate Tax, as well as taxes paid on Social Security and taxes on overtime hours. This, coupled with massive reduction in the illegal population (which reduces the financial burden of supporting those people) will save the taxpayers money.

On Healthcare and Education:

Healthcare should be run like a competitive private industry where customers shop for the best services and value. Education should be the same – schools public and private should compete and strive for excellence. This way, students and families win.[2]
