Jason B. Libby is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He was appointed to the court on May 9, 2013, and his current term expired on May 8, 2021.[1][2]

Education

After graduating from Trinity University with a B.A. in history and communications, Judge Libby received his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1995. He also enrolled in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General in Training program in 1996.[1]

Career

Judge Libby started his legal career as an Army prosecutor in Baumholder, Germany, and remained in the position from 1996-1998. From 1998 to 2000, he was Senior Defense Counsel for U.S. Army Trial Defense Services in Texas and Germany. Libby then took on an Associate Trial Attorney position in Texas from 2000-2002, and finally worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas, in the Corpus Christi Division, until he was appointed to his current judgeship.[1]
