Two seats on the Roanoke County Public Schools school board were up for special election on November 8, 2016, for two unexpired terms. Incumbents Jason Moretz and Donald Butzer ran for re-election in the Windsor Hills District and the Catawba District, respectively. Butzer, who was appointed to his seat in July 2016, defeated Beverly Orange and Tom Sova IV to win another term on the board. Moretz was appointed to his seat in September 2015 and won re-election unopposed.[3][4][5]
