I am a Husband, Father and small business owner in the manufacturing industry and I am deeply committed to the prosperity and well-being of our communities. My background as a successful small business owner and a dedicated family man has shaped my understanding of the challenges we face in Michigan. My professional experience in technology and industrial manufacturing has taught me the value of innovation and hard work, principles I intend to bring to my public service. I believe in protecting our children and working towards a safer, more connected Michigan, where family values and educational excellence are at the forefront of our efforts.
  • I champion a robust platform emphasizing education and vocational training. My vision is to ensure Michigan's youth are equipped with the essential skills that employers seek. This focus on education is not just a strategy but a belief in the transformative power of knowledge. By fostering a world-class educational framework, we can bolster Michigan's economy, offer more skilled and satisfying job opportunities, and ultimately elevate the workforce and the community.
  • Families are the backbone of our society. I envision a system that fosters a balanced and structured approach to education, tailored to the unique needs of each community while maintaining local control of schools and fostering parental involvement in education.
  • Government can and should work for the people. It's okay that Republicans, Democrats, and others have different ideas. This doesn’t make us weak, it makes us stronger. It's only a problem if we forget that we’re all neighbors and friends. We don't need to give up what we believe in or our own personal values to work together and find good, common-sense solutions. I will work with everyone to find solutions that aren't just about the far right or far left, but ones that work well for everyone.
September 11th was the first historical event I clearly remember. I was 19 and just coming into work for the day. We watched on TVs as the attacks unfolded and our country changed forever. The next day, on September 12th, was one of the most impactful days of my life. Driving to work, there were American flags everywhere, hanging from every overpass, on every truck, and in front of every home. I have never before or since seen such a display of national unity and patriotism as I did on that day.

An attack meant to destroy us only served to bring us closer together. There were no Republicans or Democrats or Independents that day. There were only Americans. I was so proud to be an American that day.
The Governor and the State Legislature should work together on common sense solutions to the problems that face our state. Both should remember that we are all elected to represent the values, ideals and aspirations of the people of the State of Michigan.
Education is our greatest challenge and our greatest opportunity over the next decade. Education isn’t just about better schools, it’s about preparing our kids to compete and giving them the opportunity to shape the future. A better education system in Michigan will reduce crime, create more and higher paying jobs, lead to new businesses and new ideas, and promote life by improving the quality of life for all Michiganders.
Yes, but I don’t think it’s a requirement. Sometimes problems require a fresh perspective.
The first thing I will do if elected will be to build relationships and open conversations with both Democratic and Republican legislators. Serious problems require serious solutions, representatives from the other party are not our enemies. We may have different ideas at the start, but I truly believe that not only can we come together, but we must if we are to solve the education crisis in Michigan.
John McCain was an American hero, first as a naval aviator defending our country during Vietnam and then as a US Senator and Presidential Candidate. I admired his willingness to work with Democrats and Republicans to solve actual problems, stand up to special interests and work not for his own party but for all Americans. I didn’t agree with all of his policy positions, but I respected him and trusted him when he spoke. We need more of that in our State Government and that is what I will model myself after if elected.
The very first day I started running for office a young man named Kenny came up to me at the Gun Lake Winterfest. We talked for nearly an hour about various issues, but at the end of the conversation I was most struck by his telling me that he is not going to vote. He believes there is no point because politicians won’t do anything anyway and they are all the same (Paraphrasing). This is so sad to hear from such a young man, but I understand why he feels that way. We have to stop the attacks and start working for the people who elect us. It’s up to us as candidates and office holders, not the voters, to earn the trust and respect of the voters, not by our words but by our actions.
The Governor should have the ability to act quickly and decisively in the event of an emergency. The legislature should act as a check and balance on that power to ensure it is not abused.
I would work with Democrats and Republicans to develop a series of bipartisan bills aimed at improving education through a renewed focus on fundamentals like Math, English, Science, and Civics.
