  • Washington is a Joke
  • Main Street should come before Wall Street
  • Getting sick should not financially ruin you
The United States government has handed a virtual monopoly to a handful of corporations that have addicted millions of Americans to opiates and prescription pain-killers. This same government has crowded our prisons with countless addicts in need of rehabilitation to fill the pockets of the private prison industry. We can keep people healthy without it breaking the bank.

In this country, justice is no longer blind. An individual's race, gender, and net worth all tip the scales of justice. The rich and famous get off scot-free with their wrongdoings buried, while the poor and disadvantaged are encouraged to take a plea deal by an overworked public defender. We then shackle our neighbors with that crime for the rest of their lives. We can stop this continual infringement of human and civil rights, eliminate court fees, and reform the bail system.

Despite possessing the largest economy in the world and among the highest expenditures on education, American students continually lag behind their foreign counterparts in academic performance. Our 20th-century education system suffers from systemic underfunding, inefficient allocation of existing resources, and stagnating wages for teachers. Despite their pivotal role in the development of young Americans, we force many teachers to choose between supporting their students or their families.I will seek to overhaul this broken system, give the next generation the tools needed to succeed, and fully support teachers.
I look up to my mom, my high school conditioning coach, JFK, Nelson Mandela, and Michael Murphy, among others. I am always learning from others, how to become a better version of myself. I also try to learn how to overcome difficulties to make a positive impact on those around me.
The ability to listen to people I disagree with and the ability to identify ways to create positive change in our community, not just talk about it.
To fight to the best of their ability for betterment of their district and the rest of America.
Healthcare is no longer something many Americans will struggle to pay for in the future.

The Justice System treats everyone equally and applies the equal focus on prosecuting wall street fat cats as it does low level drug offenders

Every child in this country has access to an education system that seeks to develop them into the best version of themselves. As well as fully supporting teachers and providing the funding they need to be successful.
Cleaning kennels at my mom's veterinary practice, which I would do weekends, and during the summer of my freshman year of high school.
Talking to Strangers - It was eye opening learning how much we don't understand about each other and how it leads to potentially negative results.
The largest struggle of my life has been dealing with various illnesses. Having affordable healthcare and access to it is deeply personal to me, because without it I likely would not still be alive.
The ability to bring together representatives from different districts across America to determine what is the best course for America's future.
No. Government is not real life. It doesn't teach you the skill of balancing a payroll, hard work generally doesn't pay off, and it discourages ideas. That's why term limits should exist; so, representatives offer their skills for a period of time, then return to the working world.
I don't think there is one main challenge but two. The first is how we are going to deal with increasing levels of automation that eliminate working class and white-collar jobs. The second is how to deal with excessive government debt brought about by reckless spending.
Intelligence - Many representatives talk about China, but very few understand it.

Finance - Financial institutions get away with too much in this country, and are not held accountable beyond a soundbite.

Energy and Commerce - Understanding technology to protect American consumers as well as advocating for cleaner energy that is actually feasible.
No. I believe it should be four years and held during the presidential mid-term year. That way it provides voters a referendum on the president while also allowing representatives to now always be in campaign mode.
They should exist. 12 years max for house and senate.
Wright Patman. I want to stand up to corporations and ensure America creates opportunities for everyone not a select few.
