Stone issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:

I am a moderate. I believe that education is the ticket to prosperity for today's children and tomorrow's leaders. I believe that our state government exists to do the things that individuals cannot and should not be expected to do for themselves. State government should:
  • ensure the education of future generations
  • honor Oklahoma's obligations to our seniors, disabled, retirees, and public servants
  • provide training of our work force
  • ensure our infrastructure is safe and facilitates economic development
  • create a social and business climate that attracts business to our state

I am running for office because Oklahoma's legislature is out-of-touch with Oklahoma values. We need a legislature that understands what is happening in our state. I am a part of the movement in our state to ensure the proper funding of education. We are not vouching safe the future of our state. We are 48th out of 50 states in teacher pay (NEA), yet our legislature is paid the 16th highest salary. Those figures do not reflect Oklahoma values. [5]
