Absolutely — Building relationships with other legislators is key to being effective. Here are three solid reasons why:

Collaboration Leads to Legislative Success
Most laws aren't passed solo. You need co-sponsors, votes in committees, and support across the aisle. Strong relationships help you build coalitions and get your bills moving.

Increased Influence and Credibility
When other legislators know and trust you, they’re more likely to listen to your ideas, back your initiatives, and bring you into important conversations — whether in public hearings or behind closed doors.

Better Problem-Solving Across Divides

Good relationships, especially bipartisan ones, help cut through gridlock. Personal connections can break down partisan walls and open the door to compromises that actually solve real problems.
