I was born, raised and educated in Miami and have lived in District 105 for the last 15 years. I'm the son of cuban immigrants and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. I have been an activist speaking up for LGBTQ+, Women's and workers rights for 18 years. The people of Florida and District 105 need a representative that will fight for them and speak up for them everyday. I don't just talk about the issues that my communities face, I live them. It's time to send one of us, someone we raised and educated to Tallahassee to represent us and our values.
  • Lets ensure that everyone has access to high quality and affordable healthcare. Lets expand Medicaid and make Florida KidCare universally accessabile.
  • We need to focus on Florida's Families and ensure that they are able to build a better future for themselves and their children. Lets raise the minimum wage, address our affordable housing crisis and make sure that social programs that are supposed to help Floridians aren't built to fail.
  • I want to make Public Schools in Florida the best choice. Lets fully fund our public schools, ensure that educators and school staff are paid what they deserve and make sure our students feel supported and safe in school.
Addressing the issues with affordable healthcare, ensuring that public education is protected and LGBTQ+ Equality.
My mom is my hero and I hope to be half the person she is. She has taught me how to truly care for others, work hard for what you want and to never give up trying.
Well West Wing is my favorite show, but I would suggest documentaries like 13th and films like Milk and The Normal Heart.
A representative should have the shared experiences of their constituents and be able to speak for them. I talk about the issues, not because they are talking points, but because I've lived them and my family has gone through them. I understand the issues on a personal level and I feel like I am best prepared to speak for my constituents.
I am dedicated and hard working. I care about people and creating the change that we need. I don't quit until a job is done.
To pass legislation that will bring positive change to their districts and constituents and also be there to help their constituents and make sure that issues are addressed as fast as possible.
I would like to be know as an effective legislator that gets things done but speaks out for what's right.
The first historical event I can clearly remember was the shooting at Columbine, I was in Middle School and I remember being so scared that it could happen at my school. My generation was really the first to deal with the reality of gun violence in schools in that way.
I worked as a sales associate at Hollister and I worked my way up to Overnight Manager, I was there for almost 2 years.
Frankenstien. It was a book I read in High School when I was going through the coming out process and it resonated with me the idea of something that no one understood and how alone and left out he felt.
Mickey Mouse. I know he's a cartoon but he's always so humble, honest and brave and kind. Plus everyone loves Mickey Mouse.
I've always been very lucky to have a supportive family, but we struggled so much doing my childhood and teenage years. Lots of times we were living off of payday loans and barely making it paycheck to paycheck. It taught me a lot about how to keep pushing even when it's hard and not to give up, but also how to ask for help when you need it.
I think the experience that is needed is the personal experiences that make someone able to represent their constituents. While connections and relationships are important, a representative needs to understand the issues that their constituents are dealing with and have the ability to speak for them.
Ensuring that we refocus our legislature and our legislative actions to focus on working families by dealing with the affordability crisis that we have in this state with healthcare and the ability to raise a family without living paycheck to paycheck.
It should be a relationship of working together to get passed legislation that will bring positive change for the people of Florida. It should also serve as a checks and balance on the executive office.
Of course, we are just 1 of 120 in the State House and we need to find ways of working together so that we can address the issues that are most important for our constituents.
I think we should have an independent commission drawing our districts in Florida, it is the best way to ensure that all districts are drawn out fairly.
If my fellow representatives felt that I would be good for it I would, but my top priority is being an effective legislator for my constituents and delivering on the changes that are needed.
Rep. Shevrin Jones for being able to cross the aisle and get important pieces of legislation passed and Rep. Cindy Polo for always being willing to speak up when needed.
My only priority right now is getting elected so that I can represent the people of District 105.
I spoke to a nursing student who had a young daughter, just under Kindergarten age. She was working and going to nursing school and trying to figure out what to do with her daughter during these long hours. Sometime her family would help but most of the time she would have to send her daughter to daycare and it was becoming too expensive for her to afford. I remember sitting with her and just hearing the fear in her voice because she didn't know how she was going to afford any of it. There are families, so many families, that need help right now and I want to make sure there is someone fighting for them.
